At the Inspection

When you arrive at the inspection you should go to the show secretary. Here you report your arrival, deliver the passport and receive your number. You should also pay any remaining costs here. The number should be attached to your horses halter or bridle. Horses 3 years and older should be shown in a bit. You will be given approximate times for each section and the running order for the day.

The examination will begin. You need to make sure your horse is “ready for inspection”. The mane and tail should now be loose and neatly combed. Tinkers should not be wearing a blanket and wearing the bridle with number. Listen carefully to the announcer so you know when to be ready.

If your horse is 3 years and older, the TYPE inspector will TYPE, measure and check the microchip of your horse. Foals, yearlings and 2 year old will have their microchips checked. Foals and other tinkers that require their photo taken to process for the passport. DNA samples will be taken from all tinkers (if it is their first inspection)

The ring master will keep an eye on when it is your turn. When your horse goes in the ring you should it to the person that presents your horse. This person will prepare and present your horse properly for the jury. The jury first wants to see your horse standing and assess their conformation. Your horse will walk one round and trot around the ring. At the request of the jury the horse maybe need to do an extra round walk or trot. The judges will then award your tinker their premium and rosette.

Depending on the number of entries, sections may be divided between ages, TYPES, mares and geldings. Young horses with a first premium and adult horses (excluding cross breeds) with a 1st premium and a star should remain nearby, they can win the title of DAY CHAMPION

Once your horse is finished, it can be brought back to the trailer. The secretary will return your passport, with your results of the day incorporated. You now also give back you bridle number. With hopefully a happy result you travel back home where you can reminisce on a beautiful day.
