VANNER

The Vanner is the least common of the Tinker TYPES. Vanners are generally the largest of the Tinkers. The are heavily built with a quiet and confident appearance

HEIGHT
Ranging from about 156cm to 170cm. Vanner can also be larger.

COLOUR
Often tobiano, but other colours can occur.

HEAD
Straight with a broad forehead. Often long but not overly large. It is in proportion to the rest of the horse. Roman noses are allowed.

EYES
Bold and intelligent eyes. Blue and half blue are are allowed.

EARS
Well places. Stand up straight. Not too close together. The ears face forward and are small to normal size.

JAWS and THROAT
The jaws are pronounced in harmony with the whole structure of the horse. The throat is not overly broad.

NECK
The neck is not as vertical as the other TYPES. It is heavy and normal to short in length. The neck must not be too poorly muscled and must raise high enough from the chest. A muscled under neck is not desired. Stallions should have a larger crest.

WITHERS
A sufficient to good wither development that should gradually flow into the back. Flat withers do occur.

SHOULDER
The shoulder is often steep and should be of good to sufficient length.

FORELEGS
The legs should be strong, well developed, heavy and therefore appropriate for the type. The forelegs are well placed. when seen from the front, there is a hoof width spacing. The legs are not too long. The pasterns have an angle of 45 degrees and are sufficiently long and springy. Joints are well developed.

BACK and LOINS
The back is of normal length and appropriate of the type. Strong and well connected. A slightly short back is allowed.

CHEST
Broad and muscular.

RIBS
Well rounded. The backbone should not be visible.

CROUP
Well muscled, slightly sloping and of a sufficient length.

HIND LEGS
The hind legs should be well developed and positioned correctly. Legs are heavy and appropriate for the type. Seen from behind, the legs are straight. From the side, the legs are well made and strong. The gaskin should be sufficiently long and well muscled. The joints are well developed. The hocks are large and flat, with and angle of about 150 degrees. The pasterns should have an angle of about 55 degrees.

HOOVES
The hooves should be the same shape, large and hard.

FEATHER
Abundant, starting from the hock and knee. The hooves should be covered by the hair.

MANE and TAIL
Normal to abundant.

MOTION
A powerful and function movement, in which every joint is used sufficiently well. Pushing movements occur.
